Exploring Tenganan Bali Ancient Village

Our great tour to Tenganan Bali Ancient village and some other places in the eastern part of Bali . It was a great experience indeed , exploring the beauty of the eastern part of Bali . With all thus beautiful places around our island , I feel so much blessing to born and live in this beautiful island . Can find enough words to describe how lucky I am in this reincarnation .

Time pass so fast , it’s out of our control . But who can control the time ? All we can do is to fill the time as much as we can to be a great memorable time . Its been almost 7 years since I started my new job as a driver . So many places I’ve been explore in our own Bali island . That’s not so surprising isn’t it ? Since I’m only Balinese . But if not as a driver I will not know how beautiful , stunning and how rich is our own island . Rich doesn’t mean we have so much money but rich of the culture and tradition .Yes Bali island is the main tourist destination in Indonesia and known as world most visited island . So many beautiful attraction to see and few days will not enough to explore the island .

Today with our clients from Finland , . This is our second days of our Bali Tour program . Our first and very interesting stop is at Tenganan Bali ancient village . Small village located in the east Bali . The remaining one of the oldest village who still strictly keeping their own tradition .

Once we enter the village , we will welcomed by some of the villagers who introduce their skill as a painter . An ancient painting style using the traditional paper from the palm leave .

Tenganan Bali ancient Village

Tenganan Bali Ancient village is also known as Bali Aga . We call them Bali Aga which is mean original Balinese village with the villagers who still strictly apply their ancient rules . And the peoples who live there is the first Bali generation who occupied Bali island .This rules is referring to our concept of Tri Hita Karana . The concept of how keeping all things in balance . A good relationship between human and God , Human and environment and human and human . The village area are setup accordingly and all the houses for living are built in specific area with the same architecture . Temples , meeting place are built according the rules of how they maintain the balance with the environment . Amazingly every persons who live in this village are fully respect with the village rules that they have .

This view you might not only see in this village but all around the island . Roaster in the cage , they are isolated and trained to be a fighter for cockfighting even .

Story o Tenganan Bali Ancient Village or Tenganan Pagringsingan

According to fairy tale how this village build , Back to Bali Kingdom era when Bedahulu is the center of Bali Kingdom who rules entire Bali area . Bedahulu now is known as a village near Ubud village . the story begin when the King lost of his beloved Kingdom’s horse , a white horse . The King tell to anyone who can find his horse will have his and the kingdom reward to be the most loyal person . Finally one of his loyal servant , Ki Tunjung Biru found his horse died in the east of Bali . For his dedication the King give him a reward to be a free man and give a land also bring his follower to live in that land as an autonomy village . The king allowed him to claim the land as far as he can smell the the dead body of the horse .

Some other picture that I took during our day trip in the village . As a guide , this is not my first time but every time I visit this place , always bring home some great pictures in a different moment .

Ki Tunjung Biru is a smart person , he cut the dead body of the horse into few pieces than spread the pieces of the horse’s body as far as he can throw . So as far as they can smell the dead body of the horse become the area of the village , with his intelligent he even have more bigger land to claim . This village has its own autonomy rules , even still under the Kingdom territory .

The girls from the village with their traditional dress , Pagringsingan clots . We don’t see this during a normal day but only during the village festival or Temple ceremony .

While Pagringsingan taking from the special cloth that only produce by the villager there . Its a special cloth of traditional woven who taking such a long process . 1 piece of cloth can take 2 until 3 years to make , its such a long process from taking the color from the forest until finish . All the color is a natural color from growing plants and take with rituals process . Its important to select a good day to get the color material forest . This unique process make this cloth is special and Bali peoples believes that this cloth has special spiritual power to protect the owner who wearing the cloth . In Balinese words Geringsing from word Gering which is mean epidemic of a disease , while sing mean no .

We also invited to visit their house and learn how they make the cloth , Pagringsingan clots . All done by hand and passion .

Primary school in the village . The only school for a whole villagers , for high school the kids have to go outside the village which is not far from the village .
